Over The Top !!

This is not a blog as such but rather a wee bit of info to help our friends throughout the word  better understand the snow situation here where we live. On left you can read February 22 , 2007 while on right is a picture I snapped this afternoon from the same vantage spot on the gallery. I might also add that Statistics Canada has been broadcasting of late that we have not had this much snow since just before the War began in 1939.  My greenhouse is 9 - foot high in the middle so you do the math !!

P.S. We are presently getting whacked once again by a jim dandy of a snowstorm which will probably dump another 40 cms on this area.

  1. Yes, well it's one of my dislikes about Switzerland, the snow in Winter, although we have nothing like Canada seems to be getting. You would only get that on the first turning down the hill from the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. There was a snowy Winter about five years ago and there were a lot of avalanches and damage done. Roll on Spring. Looks like you have a lot of sweeping to do. A young friend of mine flies to Vancouver next week to learn English for 4 months - I wonder what she will have to expect.

  2. It is just plain scarey looking to me! I would start thinking "it's going to cover me up".
You all must really have to stock up on supplies or do you try to get out in all this? I know you went to IGA a couple of days ago so guess you have a few things!
    Be safe and be warm!

  3. We're getting a respite from the snow today and maybe for the next week. They've toned down the snow threats for the week. I do hope you don't over do the shoveling. I don't know about you but I'm not getting any younger. *LOL*

  5. I can easily understand you , Pat.... but you can tell your friend that Vancouver is our Hawaii as they rarely get any snow ... only rain .... even though Whistler Mountain looms up just behind them as part of the Rockies... snow only on higher elevations. Have a most pleasant weekend over there in Helvetia.

  6. Thank yu , Miss Cindy Anne... ma' am.... we are warm and could always cuddle upin front of the hearth should the power fail us. And yes , in the long run you do get the impression that things are closing in on you slowly each day with every new snowfall. HUgs

  7. Just came in from shovelling .... getting te car out of hock so to speak and ready for any emergency that might arie. And I am watching the shovelling very closely.... never too much effort at any one time over a long period of time. We are tunnelling everywhere... out to the road... into my driveway.... into the greenhouse.... to my outdoor fireplace , etc Just the tunnel to the road s ten - foot high on te left side.... less high on the right !! Right about not getting any younger ! lol

  8. I am wondering if this will help the situation of the glacier melt in Greenland? I was watching only last evening about how fast its melting and not growing due to lack of snow fall...My sis in Colorado has about 12 feet as well...she's been there since '83 and never seen this much in one year....its a Doner winter I reckon.
