The Boatswain's ( Bo 'sun's ) Lament !!

Just when you think you've sized up the whole situation and make ready to set course out to sea through the channel between Big Soldier and Little Soldier Islands...... along comes low tide to upset the applecart and throw a monkey wrench in your plans.

Many of us see life pessimistically as  a sequence of low tides .....   bummers or downers ......  while others such as Biff and Buck , our local tugboats , optimistically take advantage of high tide to tow a huge scow through the Reversing Falls........... a simple feat that would have a disastrous outcome "on the rocks " at low tide.

. Moral of the story......... sleep , rest or simply play it cool when tide's out.... or maybe dig a few clams or get a tan !......... and go for broke when tide is high . Life just might be a wee bit more agreeable  this way !!

  3. Hey , Julie - Ann....yes , my many years of hard knocks has taught me a great number of things ... among which that for every low tide there is a corresponding high tide coming afterwards..... maybe not with as great precision as with real tides but still in the near offing.... and if we are patient enough to wait for the right moment ...... then the odds might be more in our favour. Hugs !.

  4. Peace and love to you likewise , Cindy Anne. Fluff and McDuff Inc Photographers at large are responsible for all the photos and the site in general and I give them all the credit they deserve. Being somewhat of a technotwinkie myself I would have been at a loss where to begin. And thanks for the kind words... we seafolk ... both you and myself .... understand the language of ocean currents and the such and share a great love for its beauty and majesty. Hugs !

  9. As the rewording of the ancient proverb reads.... Good things happen to those who wait wide awake !! or was it " good things happen to those who twitter , tweet and twirl ? " When your tide comes in , Jim , and it will......... may it bring you barrels of hake , haddock and alewives galore.... a gourmand's delight !!
